StopHam - Stop A Douchebag Movement

VIDEO [CC] - Stop a douchebag movement: Russia's bad driving vigilantes the version with english subtitles.



StopHam (СтопХам) Russian which translates as Stop a douchebag or stop a lout is a Russian non-profit organization, headquartered in Moscow and founded in 2010 by members of the youth movement Nashi, which opposes traffic rules violations and arrogance on the road. The leader of the organization is Dmitriy Chugunov. The mode of operation of the activists of the movement is to film offenses and their conversations and confrontations with offenders and consequently edit and upload the gathered footage to video-sharing websites such as YouTube.





One of the popular strategies is to place big stickers with the phrase "I don't care for anyone, I park where I want" on car windshields of non-cooperative traffic offenders. A number of accidents involving activists of the movement have garnered significant public attention in Russia. Police Uses Sign Language Saved Deaf Teen Life

RALEIGH, NC -- WNCN-TV: A Raleigh police officer used sign language to talk a Deaf 16-year-old off the Rock Quarry Road bridge over I-40 on Tuesday, according to the officer’s father and witnesses at the scene.



The mother of a Deaf teen says a Raleigh police officer saved her daughter’s life after he used sign language to help talk her off a bridge.

Maria Daley says she was “terrified and didn’t know what to do” as her daughter was standing on a bridge over Interstate 40 Tuesday afternoon.



She says she’s grateful for the officer who used sign language to communicate with her 16-year-old daughter until she came down off the bridge.



“If the officer had not been there, she probably would have jumped,” said Daley to WNCN. “Normally when the police are called, none of the officers know sign language. I’m very excited someone was out there to communicate with her.”



Raleigh police blocked all lanes near Rock Quarry Road starting around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The girl came off the bridge around 4:45 p.m. She was unharmed, police said, and was being evaluated at a local crisis center.



Daley says her daughter “got upset and said she was going to hurt herself” after Daley took away her phone. Daley later found a note left for her saying she was going to the bridge.

Daley says she was trying to protect her daughter by taking the phone away after she caught the teen using anonymous messaging apps on her phone, such as Kik. The popular messaging app has been linked to a growing number of child sexual abuse cases.



The officer has declined to be identified and the Raleigh Police Department says they have no American Sign Language training program. The officer learned how to sign on his own, police say.



One of the North Carolina Department of Transportation cameras picked up the officer making gestures to the girl. Witnesses tell WNCN they saw the officer communicate with the girl by sign language for about 30 minutes.



“It’s good that he knew sign language, I feel like more people need to learn it,” said witness Sean Day. “It shows that he had a lot of patience and he didn’t let whatever he had on his mind interfere with what was going on.”



Daley hopes the powerful moment will encourage more people to learn sign language, leading to more shared connections and maybe saved lives. Source

Deaf Man Dies In North Carolina House Fire

VIDEO [CC] - Deaf News: Family tried to save Deaf man from fatal Smithfield house fire in North Carolina.





SMITHFIELD, NC -- WRAL: One man died on Saturday morning in a house fire in Smithfield, North Carolina, officials said.



The fire at the home on 5th Street near the Smithfield Police Department was reported at 5 a.m., according to the Smithfield Fire Department. Fire Chief John Blanton said crews received a call for a fire with someone trapped inside the home and arrived on scene at 5:05 a.m.





Search and rescue crews found one victim dead inside.



Mamie Stewart lived in the home that caught fire. Stewart said her nephew Michael Caroll Davis, 43, who was Deaf, died in the fire.





“He made me feel good all the time,” said Stewart of her nephew. “He loved to make sure I had my coffee in the morning when I got up.”



Stewart said she was up very early Saturday morning, reading her Bible, while Davis was asleep upstairs. Her grandson came home and said he smelled something burning, so Stewart said she walked toward the kitchen.



“I heard something and there was nothing but smoke and stuff. It just engulfed the house,” she said. Stewart said she and others tried to go back upstairs to get Davis, but couldn't reach him.





“I’m running upstairs, trying to get upstairs and the smoke engulfed me. I couldn’t see nothing and I know he couldn’t hear me,” she said. “We couldn’t save him.”



Davis had lived with his aunt since his mother died when he was ten-years-old.



“He wasn’t my child, but I raised him as mine and I loved him just as much as my own child that I gave birth to,” said Stewart."I just thank God for all the good things that I remember him by."



The other seven people in the home, who were all relatives of Stewart, were able to escape. The smoke detector in the home wasn't working, she said.



The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Johnston County Fire Marshal. Source

Deaf Man Rescues Deer From Frozen River

VIDEO: Deaf News: This Deaf man recorded the heartwarming aftermath of himself saving a young deer from an icy death.





DULUTH, MN -- A Bambi must have had a guardian angel looking out for him (or her) this week, after having gotten itself stuck in some icy water. Luckily for the deer, a Good Samaritan just happened to be driving by when he spotted the deer and sprung into action. The above video was likewise taken by the Good Samaritan, who happens to be Deaf, explaining what happened, one-handed signing as he holds the camera with the other hand.





The rescue of ‘Miss Ice River. The rescue of ‘Miss Ice River’: Duluth man saves deer from frigid water - video of a Deaf man next to an exhausted, ice-covered deer he just rescued from a frigid river has been making the rounds on the Internet in recent days.





If you don’t understand sign language, a family friend of the man who posted the video to Reddit was helpfully able to translate:



I was driving along when I see this deer struggling to survive. I felt obligated to help her, so I pulled over, trekked through the woods, and crawled out onto the ice. I used a rope to pull her out. I am so glad she is safe. Now we need to find her mom.



 [After he pets deer] I will call her Miss Ice River. She must be so cold. I am so happy that she survived. Farewell.



Unfortunately there were no further updates and it’s to be assumed that the man went on his way after rescuing the deer, but since deer are pretty resilient, we can only assume it went on to survive the ordeal. I’m not sure how many “lives” deer are supposed to have, but hopefully this one stays off the ice (and out of traffic) from now on. Source

The worst road rage incidents of all time video compilations.

The best dash cam footage and caught on camera moments from around the globe. Dashboard cameras shows motorists taking the law into their own hands.



Road Rage is aggressive or angry behavior by a driver of an automobile or other road vehicle. Such behavior might include rude gestures, verbal insults, deliberately driving in an unsafe or threatening manner, or making threats.



Road rage can lead to altercations, assaults, and collisions that result in injuries and even deaths. It can be thought of as an extreme case of aggressive driving.





The rules of the road are present to ensure that people get to where they need to go safely, but sometimes those rules get broken. Whether by accident, or on purpose, the result can be ugly: tempers flare, fists fly, and occasionally things get out of control. The end result is totally priceless!





Millions people have watched hundreds of clips posted on the internet. While most road rage incidents usually end peacefully, not all do. Here are extreme examples captured on film from all over the world ... and one not-so-extreme one!



There, the absence of effective law enforcement coupled with booming sales of dashboard cameras has led to a surge of videos with scenes like these being posted on the internet.





Indeed, shocking footage of road rage rampages have become the latest form of entertainment in a country where the state has so much control of what is put on social media and television.



Road rage madness, the worst case of road rage we've ever come across was caught on camera by an innocent driver who found himself the target of a madman from the Southwest Australia.





On the footage you can hear the sound of the man punching Olsen's window as he drives off. He is yet another victim of the increasing number of road rage incidents which are turning quiet suburban streets into bitumen battlefields; where angry drivers are lashing out against other road users in unprovoked attacks.





But the madness was far from over. Olsen still didn't know if he was out of danger, even though the man appeared to be hurt, so having been rammed at least seven times and barely able to see though the windscreen, he continued driving to the nearest police station.



The now infamous black Nissan ute was garaged today at a sprawling Perth property while 21-year-old Edward Sullivan from Carbrook in Brisbane's south was being questioned by police. Source





Meanwhile in Russia... Road rage Russian style, in America, Britain, and Canada such terrifying episodes of road rage would be almost impossible to imagine but not in Russia - is way too intense. Even a cursory search on YouTube for 'road rage' reveals hundreds of clips and many of them are Russian.





How motorists settle their scores with guns, bats and axes in Russia. The clips showing armed drivers confronting each other being cut up or other lapses in driving etiquette have been watched by millions of Russians.





It is impossible to verify whether all the footage is all genuine. Undoubtedly, some will have been staged, but much appears to be real. Drivers say the root of the problem is corrupt policing and a failure to crack down on those involved in road rage and other motoring offences.





The most popular clips, shown on sites such as ru-chp.livejournal.com, are the road rage incidents, where - despite weapons occasionally being brandished - most involve old-fashioned fistfights. Source
