Kentucky Fried Chicken Operated By Deaf People

How to order a meal at Kentucky Fried Chicken in sign language ... to tell the staff that you want to stay to eat in rather than take out ... if you don’t know, then you probably haven’t visited a KFC that is entirely run by speech and hearing impaired employees in Egypt, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore and Thailand.





In fact, one of the first things customers learn at the two KFC outlets is how to order meals and drinks in sign language. Plastered on the walls of the restaurant are pictures of how to use sign language and finger spell, and it helps placing orders, watch how the Deaf KFC employees performance in the video compilation.

Deaf Pakistan KFC - It is inspiring to see news of twenty hearing-impaired heroes gaining self-sufficiency through employment at KFC Pakistan’s recently inaugurated Deaf-operated outlet in Federal B Area, Karachi.





KFC and FESF (Family Educational Services Foundation) have collaborated to advocate for equal opportunities for the Deaf community in Pakistan. Effectively, over 100 young Deaf men and women have been employed at KFC’s seven Deaf-operated branches. Source

Drive-Thru McDonalds Discrimination Deaf Driver

VIDEO [CC] - Declared lawsuit for discrimination of Deaf driver going through a drive thru at a McDonald's in Columbus, Nebraska.



COLUMBUS, NE -- Here is the video with hardcoded subtitles with what is being heard for the Deaf people to understand what is being said. Hearing people are welcome to verify or correct what is being shown.



This is a video captured by Jonathan Ramos as he made a drive through at a McDonalds located in Columbus, Nebraska during January 2nd. He is Deaf and wanted to make an order.



Normally Deaf people would drive past the speakers straight to the window then hand over a written note or display the order off the screen of a smartphone. The cashier would put in the order for the next window to deliver the order.

Jonathan says that prior to the recording, he displayed his order on his phone to the window then begun the recording after this person has not returned to the window after a while. He has stated that there were problems between him and that particular McDonald since last June.



After the end of the video, a police officer appeared and issued a ticket to Jonathan and warned him that he is not to be allowed to return to McDonald or be cited for trespassing.



In a way, it is a discrimination because Jonathan is being singled out as someone who is Deaf. It does appear in this video that the employees were being extremely rude to a Deaf person by yelling at him while being aware that the driver is Deaf.



I, Jonathan, am he declared sue to McDonald's Columbus, Nebraska.



If it is proven that Jonathan has been disruptive (as not shown in the video) before the recording begun, then he is at fault and is treated as someone who is being disruptive to a private property and it was within the location's rights to refuse service and have the police to escort this person away. Deaf Waiter Sees 'World Of New Possibilities'

Deaf News: Although Noah Wimberly has proven himself to be a skillful waiter, he plans to retire soon from the food service industry.



LAFAYETTE, LA -- The News Star: Read on to learn more about his drive and the next adventure on the horizon. Those who work closest with Noah Wimberly at Social Southern Table & Bar say that he is highly competitive, able to communicate better than most and has more personality in his little finger than most people have in their entire bodies.



Customers of the Lafayette restaurant request Wimberly as their server more than any other. They say it is Wimberly’s attentive service that impresses them. It is his smile they remember long after the meal. They call him brave, an inspiration.



Although Wimberly was born Deaf, he sees nothing brave about working hard to earn money, attend college and achieve independence. He’s just living his life the best way he knows how.



Jody Ferguson, a partner of Social Southern Table & Bar and the former franchise owner for Acadiana’s Casa Ole locations, remembers well when his manager of the Opelousas Casa Ole location suggested Wimberly, now 28, try his hand at waiting tables.



He told Ferguson that Wimberly, who was about 19 at the time, had worked every other position beginning as a busboy and dishwasher and working his way up to a line cook and even temporary head chef. He first worked at the Lafayette location of Casa Ole, then helped to open the Opelousas location.



“I’ve got to be honest,” Ferguson said. “I was very hesitant. I was very nervous. I didn’t want to set him up for failure. I was nervous in how he would handle it and how others would respond to him.”



But Wimberly’s manager, Armando Perry, didn’t give up.



“I just believe there is nothing that Noah can’t do,” Perry said. “He’s one of those people that once he’s got something in his mind, he’s going to accomplish it. I was just certain that he would just get out there and do well. Oddly enough, I had no doubt that he would be a great server.” ... Read more at The News Star.
